Bible Correspondence - Jerry Schwieger
The Bible correspondence program is an outreach targeting adults who are unable to be taught the Gospel in person, such as those in foreign countries, those who are confined to home, those who are incarcerated and those who do not attend worship services. In addition to a study of the Bible through a series of lessons and other support materials, participants are provided tracts and devotional guides meeting needs, such as loneliness and discouragement. Family Life
- Young Marrieds
"New Spouses to Full Houses" is a wonderfully diverse group of couples in their 20s and 30s, with or without children. Several couples in the class have been married for less than five years, while we also have many couples with young children. Our Sunday morning Bible class covers a wide range of topics that are relevant and important to our age group.
Our class also has many outside activities that give us a chance to bond and fellowship with each other. From July 4th celebrations and pot luck dinners to bonfire/cookouts and a girls BUNCO group, we look for ways for us to grow together and enjoy being with Christian friends. We also look for service projects we can do as a class, such as helping to fund the gas budget for the Inner City Ministry.
We invite you to come and visit our class any time. We have a lot to offer and we would love for you to be a part of our class as it continues to grow and bless our lives. (back to top)
- Young Families
The young families program at Crieve Hall is a group of around 70 busy families that enjoy a broad range of worship and fellowship opportunities. These opportunities include seasonal parties and dinners, singings, picnics, ice cream socials, game nights and other events designed to bring them closer to each other and closer to God. There are also "Nights Out" for ladies, men and parents to enjoy.
The love and fellowship within this group serves as an example and encouragement to many. (back to top)

Middle Members (M&M's)
The Middle Members group consists of families and couples in their 40s and 50s. This group works and grows together through service and fellowship. Currently, we have a Wednesday night class specifically for our age group as well as supper club groups who meet monthly. We have gatherings of the entire group regularly. (See supper club pictures in gallery.) (back to top)

Senior Ministry
Crieve Hall has a full time Senior Minister, Wavell Stewart, who works with our seniors.
Our active seniors are involved in ministering to the social needs of older people. They meet often in order to enjoy Christian fellowship, ministering to the sick & hospitalized, as well as many fellowship activities with one another. Most importantly, they continue to lead by example and share their wisdom with those in our family who are still growing and learning. The seniors also meet every third Tuesday of each month for lunch. The buffet style lunch costs $4.00 and is well worth the price. Seconds are encouraged.
Sometimes the group plays games or they just enjoy each others company by sitting around and talking. It is a great way to get to know other senior brothers and sisters.
Fellowship Dinners
The smell of food permeates the hallways of the church building each second and fourth Wednesdays when the Crieve Hall family fellowship dinners are held. Serving is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults to children 11 years old, $3 for ages 3-10 and free for younger children.
The purpose of the dinners is to fellowship, mixing generations of the membership and enjoying the blessing of meeting new people or breaking bread with friends and family. (back to top)
Golden Group – Bill Dennison
The Golden Group ministers to the social needs of older people. The group meets monthly on the third Tuesday in the church building tearoom at 11 a.m.
There is a meal, a devotional and special activities designed especially for Christian fellowship, encouragement and support. Activities have included talent sharing, movies, slide shows, costume contests, singing, sharing picture albums and group games. (back to top)
Grief Support - Dan McCormac
The congregation offers a support program for those dealing with grief and emotional stress over the loss of a family member or other loved one. A support group meets on a regular basis. The church office has the meeting schedule. (back to top)
Hand to Hand Greeters
Crieve Hall members greet those who attend services at four tables at each entrance of the main lobby. Greeters are asked to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to service in order to welcome guests and members coming in. Greeters are only asked to serve at one table for one service for one month.
Hispanic Program
The outreach of this program, started in 2000, is directed toward the Hispanic community that has continued to grow in neighborhoods within a short distance of the church facilities. Since January of 2002, the teaching program has been ESL (English as a Second Language) based. The program is designed to reach out to the Hispanics with a free teaching program, making contacts that might lead to new converts.
There are two Hispanic worship services on Sunday and Bible classes each Sunday and Wednesday in the Crieve Hall chapel, with more than 68 regularly attending. (back to top)
Hospital Communion - Don Thornberry
Each Sunday, during the Bible study hour, teams of congregation members carry the Lord’s Supper to those who want to be served at Centennial Women’s Hospital and the Nashville Health Care Center. Communion is also provided for selected Christians who are in nursing facilities, who are confined to their homes because of illness or infirmities, or make special requests. (back to top)
Inner City Ministry - Ron Hatchett & Johnny Guthrie
The Crieve Hall congregation participates with other congregations in reaching out to disadvantaged children and families that live in the inner city. The ministry is coordinated by the Inner City Church of Christ, which provides a fleet of buses to pick up the children in their neighborhoods. Crieve Hall provides a bus driver and bus workers, as well as classrooms and teachers for a learning center on Mondays during the school year for children ages 3-6. The average attendance is 15 to 20. (back to top)
Job Search Assistance - Raymond Spears
Two bulletin boards are maintained with job-search information, one on the main floor of the building for English-speaking persons and one downstairs for foreign language persons. (back to top)
Mission Literature Program - John Workman
Since the 1960's, Crieve Hall has operated a program to send unused/reusable bible school and VBS materials, songbooks, and other materials to mission points throughout the world. Initially, about 150 points were served. Forty years later; we are shipping to over 250 locations.
Materials are collected from congregations in the area and supplemented by unsold copies of the same materials donated by area religious publishing houses. Bibles, New Testaments and tracts are purchased by Crieve Hall Church of Christ. (back to top)
Mothers’ Day Out - Jody Hupka
Some 100 children weekly take advantage of this activity that is open to the public and, like preschool, is an outreach work in the community. A staff of 19 looks after children from 3-months to four years whose mothers can choose either one or two days from the four-day per week schedule. There is a registration fee and a monthly tuition fee. Siblings attend at a discount. The program offers only two days in the summer. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (back to top)
Nashville School of Preaching
The Crieve Hall eldership took oversight of this former night school in 1990 and a facilities expansion project was completed in 1998 that included two additional classrooms and a reception area. Renovation created a library that offers the most significant Bible study opportunities in the area.
The faculty consists of Crieve Hall members and full-time preachers in the brotherhood. Classes meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Click here for more information on the NSP. (back to top)
Pre-Marital Counseling - Greg Beaty
A structured program of counseling for couples planning marriage is available. The seven-step program includes counseling sessions with Christian married couples.
A Meyer-Briggs Personality Profile is administered and feedback from that testing is provided at the beginning of the program. This is followed by sessions under the headings of Sexual Relations, Permanence of Marriage, Financial Management, Communications, Extended Family Relationships and the Spiritual Aspects of Marriage. All are designed to prepare the way for a life-long, loving family relationship. (back to top)
Preschool, Pre-K - Jody Hupka
A state-licensed preschool and pre-K program is offered for 3, 4, and 5-year old children from the community and our church family. The goals are to provide a Christian environment where children can grow emotionally, socially and academically. The daily schedule includes Bible story time, Letter People curriculum, group activities and outdoor play. The program is totally funded by a registration fee and a monthly tuition fee.
A trained staff teaches the students. Five year old pre-K children attend five days a week, while three and four year olds attend two or three days weekly, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (back to top)
Prison Ministry - Neal Gibson
Crieve Hall members conduct a Sunday service of Gospel singing, preaching and prayer at Nashville’s Criminal Justice Center and at the Hill Center building. There is a one-on-one session in maximum-security sections. Average attendance is 25 to 30 inmates, who come voluntarily.
The program, which includes Bible correspondence course lessons for the inmates and their families, has resulted in numerous baptisms and restorations. Efforts are received with warm appreciation from inmates who want to turn their lives around. (back to top)
Sick and Shut-in Visitation
Crieve Hall members meet Tuesdays and Thursdays to make visits to those in hospitals and shut-ins, some in nursing home facilities. They also make deliveries of fruit baskets that are prepared on Thursdays. The groups make an average of 30 visits weekly. Ray Jackson and Joe Legate coordinate the Tuesday group, while George Jones and Jimmy Davy work with the Thursday group. (back to top)
Video Ministry - Lester Ralston
Improved digital equipment has made the audio/video ministry one of the more popular and rewarding programs, enjoying world-wide distribution.
Quality CDs and tapes of each Lord’s Day worship service, as well as special singing services, are distributed to missionaries, preachers in the brotherhood, broadcast media, congregation members, shut-ins and non-members who subscribe. There is a master tape of each sermon preached since January of 1981. Missionaries supported by the Crieve Hall congregation are provided the recordings without charge. (back to top)
Visitation Program - James Fisher
The Crieve Hall visitation program began in 1964 with four teams and has become one of the longest running and most successful such programs in the brotherhood, often serving as a model for other congregations.
There are two purposes of the visitation program. One is to organize visits to move-ins, visitors, sick and shut-ins, new members and missionaries by way of mail and e-mail. The second is to strengthen the congregation through the fellowship each team member enjoys at the monthly team meetings, consisting of a meal and a period where assignments are distributed.
Teams are reorganized every eight months, increasing the opportunities for team members to know a range of the membership. (back to top)
WinGS- Women in God’s Service
WinGS is the umbrella term for the groups of women who serve the ladies of the congregation in various ways. Absentees, shut-ins, new brides and many others are the recipients of the love and care of women serving God. Click HERE for a complete list of the programs. (back to top)
Young Adult and College Group
- College/University and 20 Somethings
Crieve Hall has a long history of having great programs for college-aged and young professionals. The College/University group isn’t just for college students, but also for those in that age group who don’t attend college, but wish to study God’s word and socialize with Christians. We provide a program that will allow the college students to develop friends, skills, talents, and faith that will last them for a lifetime of service to the Lord. Nashville has several colleges and universities within its limits and Crieve Hall is convenient to many of them. The “20 Somethings” are a group of young adults, usually working and finished with their education, who are trying to grow closer to God and each other. Each group has individual classes geared to their stage in life, but occasionally team up on social and service activities. On the third Wednesday night of the month at 6, we meet together for Free Food Wednesday. However, food is free only for the college age and $2 for the 20 Somethings. We also enjoy a Stairwell Singing after the Wednesday evening classes on Free Food Wednesdays.Come on by and visit! We think you’ll enjoy the fellowship and love and want to be a part of this vital young group.
- Single Friends - Glen Evans
Christian Single Friends welcomes singles and their friends to participate with us and enjoy Fellowship and good times as we serve Him. Focusing on adults through age 54, it is open to all adult ages interested in joining with us in our activities.
We have a Bible Class each Sunday morning where we exchange thoughts and ideas as we study the Scriptures to heighten our knowledge and understanding of God's Word.
We have a Drop-In on the second Friday evening of each month which is usually held at the Crieve Hall building, and is come-as-you-are. On some occasions the group will use the bus or car pool to attend other activities. Each Drop-In provides the opportunity to network, hear and share Scriptures and experiences, sing and plan games as we fellowship and get to know each other better.
On the last Sunday evening of each month following Congregational Singing, there is a Pot Luck dinner at the Crieve Hall Building. It is an opportunity to meet and eat in a relaxed atmosphere, enhancing our understanding and bonding with each other. (back to top)
Youth Ministry – Tim Frizzell
Youth at Crieve Hall enjoy a mixture of activities focused on spiritual growth, service and fellowship. Parents work with the youth committee and youth ministers to coordinate activities for K-2nd, 3rd- 5th and 6th-12th graders. A highlight of the youth calendar is Camp Kalos, our one week summer Bible camp.
Youth are encouraged to participate in service projects throughout the year and are given opportunities to learn how to teach the Bible through the HiSTEP program, preparing them for summer mission experiences. Some of the regular activities include monthly devotionals, youth rallies, youth and family dinners, retreats, lock-ins, Bible Bowl, whitewater rafting, bowling, putt-putt golf and song sessions.
